Urban culture is about creativity and self expression, in this spirit an urban individual needs a brand of clothing to associate with that is as original and as creative as they are. This is the reason why Pink Banana Clothing was born. Four young businessmen, from different backgrounds, who had a passion for urban culture, realized that this creativity was missing from the local urban clothing industry.This meant that many local urban individuals either had to settle for substandard clothing or opt for eclothing industry but also not financially feasible. Pink Banana Clothing aims to be the marxpensive international brands. These options were not only unhealthy for the local market leader in terms of producing the freshest designs and quality to rival top international brands but at reasonable prices. Pink Banana Clothing also gives back to the local hip hop industry by sponsoring a local break dancing and krumping crew, Encore, which has taken many awards at the Life Check Battles that take place at the BAT Centre in Durban.

Pink Banana Clothing can be found at all Idols Store, which has branches at the Pavilion Shopping centre, and Musgrave Centre (Musgrave) all in Durban. In both outlets it can currently be found at a selling price of R199 Pink Banana is also in the process of negotiating to secure more outlets.

This group has had many successes, taking numerous awards at the ‘Life Check All Element’ battles that take place annually at the BAT Centre in Durban.

Another initiative run by Pink Banana Clothing is to secure its clothing orders from a local PBO(Public Benefit Organisation) called Ekukhoseleni Creative Centre: You can visit
their blog site on http://ekukhoseleniarts.blogspot.com. Through these relationships with Encore and Ekukhoseleni, Pink Banana hopes to inspire and promote self-belief in the youth that ultimately buy Pink Banana Clothing.
Pink Banana Clothing has also taken a local Durban graffiti artist Phillip Botha who’s commonly known as Niker. The relationship between the brand and Niker has developed Pink Banana Clothing’s very own graffiti spray painted wall in the Brea area in Durban which is where the official Pink Banana Clothing photo shoot took place.
Pink Banana Clothing also sponsors a local hip hop crew called Head-Quarters. This is a hip hop collaboration that is based in Umlazi, Durban.
The collaboration consists of list of three members namely Mosire, Atomic Killa & Elvy. The group has recently released its first single and will be soon releasing its first album titled “Positive reinforcement of black music”.
The single “figure the math” that the group has released is currently receiving airplay across most radio stations in South Africa. Pink Banana also sponsors a local house Dj known as DjNkoh Madlala.
